2024 Illinois Voters Guide
Below you will find a list of all resources to help prepare you for the 2024 Illinois General Election.
Voter Registration
The online voter registration window closes Sunday, October 20. After that, you will only be able to register in-person at designation locations.
Grace period registration allows eligible voters to register all the way up to Election Day. From October 9 to November 5, you can register in-person at designated locations.
Early Voting and Vote By Mail
Early voting in Illinois begins at temporary locations on Wednesday, October 9. All permanent early voting locations will be open from October 21 to November 4.
From now until Thursday, October 31, registered voters can request a Vote by Mail Ballot online. Ballots can also be requested in-person at the office of election authority until Monday, November 4.
Voter Resources
Any registered voter who intends to vote on Election Day must cast their ballot at their designated polling location. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and election officials are required to give you a ballot if you are in line before 7:00 p.m., even if your ballot is cast after polls close.
If you are already registered to vote in the state of Illinois, photo ID is not required. You will verify your identity with an election worker at your polling location. If you are planning to register to vote in-person or update your address the same day you cast your ballot, then additional documents will be needed.
