House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch and Democrats for the Illinois House Prepare for Election Season Reporting $13.6 Million for Q2

Westchester, IL –Speaker Welch led Democrats for the Illinois House to over $207,600 in contributions, while The People for Emanuel “Chris” Welch raised $2.6 million. House Democrats have closed this quarter and prepare to launch the general election season with $13.6 million cash on hand. 

Democrats for the Illinois House, the official political arm of the Illinois House Democratic Caucus, is preparing for the general election year with everything on the ballot from reproductive rights and gun safety to rights to privacy.  Over $2.8 million was raised this quarter to keep fighting for the people of Illinois.  

“The lines drawn this election cycle are very clear,” said House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch. “Voters have a clear choice. We can continue to move forward as a model for states across the country, protecting women’s rights, protecting reproductive rights, and protecting rights to privacy. We can continue to deliver balanced budgets that also support our local families and communities, or we can go back. We won’t go back. We have to keep the House blue in 2022.”

Welch says funds will be used to support the general election. The goal is to help Democrats continue to shape Illinois into a great state to raise a family where the government is inclusive and works for the people.

Individual members have also had a successful fundraising quarter, for example:

  • Rep. Janet Yang Rohr raised $98,250, ending the quarter with $492,482.95 on hand
  • Rep. Maura Hirschauer raised $98,973.55, ending the quarter with $485,986.56 on hand
  • Rep. Suzanne Ness raised $78,397.72, ending the quarter with $390,698.52 on hand
  • Rep. Dave Vella raised $199,168, ending the quarter with $656,671.60 on hand
  • Rep. Lance Yednock raised $110,260, ending the quarter with $709,319.69 on hand.
  • Rep. Katie Stuart raised $124,708, ending the quarter with $679,420.60 on hand.
  • Rep. Michelle Mussman raised $159,333, ending the quarter with $454,002.78 on hand.
